I already love my host family I feel like I fit in really well, I love their house and my bedroom, also the fact that I have my own bathroom!!( it is the laundry as well but still!!). Strangely I really like their butter it's quite yummy, the jam is very different it doesn't really have the jelly stuff in it, I guess it's more of a puree but its still yum.
I haven't really noticed too many differences probably when I have been here a bit longer. These are the ones I have noticed:
- You ALWAYS take your shoes off when going into the house
- Dinner is eaten really early, my family eats at 4 and they think eating at 5 is late (they were shocked when I said I eat dinner at 8 sometimes)
- The sun just doesn't like me, it's 6:48am and there isn't a sign of it rising and it sets early too
- It's so quiet, there are no bugs being loud and obnoxious and the people are generally quiet when walking around
- They drive on the right (wrong) side of the road which continually confuses me
- Going for a short walk is 30mins ( to me short is 10-20min)
- Nobody really knows what sweet potato is, lucky my family does cuz I love sweet potato
Last night we went for a walk and its on a sort of walking track that's all lit up and OMG I can't describe how beautiful it was, it sort of reminded me of the lion the witch and the wardrobe. The lights made all the snow twinkle, it was just amazing. Stupidly enough I didn't take any photo's. The only part of the walk was that my face was numb by the end of it, because I didn't realise that I had a scarf on to cover my face. A numb face is not a fun experience.
I go into school on Monday to have a meeting with the counsellor (I think that's what there called) and I should be starting on Tuesday. I think that's the plan.
Anywayz I'm not sure how often I'll update this, I guess whenever I can :)
